Sustainable heat from Twence

Since late 2022, our brewery has been using sustainable heat from Twence. We use this heat - supplied as hot water - for industrial processes, such as heating pasteurisers and rinsing machines. While the heat pipeline will help us reduce carbon emissions by 72% (about 5,500 tonnes) per year, the real highlight of the project is its circularity: after the cooled water leaves our brewery, it's reused to heat homes in Enschede. What's more, the heat pipeline now allows us to power 700 Twente households with biogas upgraded into green gas through the regional gas grid.
