Solar blocking film

Solar blocking film

We applied solar-blocking film to our brewery windows, blocking up to 60% of solar heat. The film ensures that less solar heat reaches our filter cellar, cooled to 12 °C to prevent microbial growth, reducing how much energy we need to cool the cellar. Since we generate this energy ourselves using electricity, the solar blocking film effectively helps the brewery save energy.

Using a thermal camera inside the filter cellar, we measured the difference between windows with and without solar-blocking film, and the results were significant - even on an overcast day. The test showed us that untreated windows have an inside temperature of 19.4°, while a window treated with solar-blocking film only reached 16.0°. In conclusion, applying solar-blocking film effectively halved the temperature difference between the window and the cellar itself (12°), even on an overcast day.
