Solar on top
Currently, eight of the trucks operating for Grolsch have solar panels installed on their roofs to continually recharge the trucks’ batteries. A major benefit is that the tractor unit doesn’t need to keep running during loading and unloading, which leads to both reduced diesel consumption and lower carbon emissions. Another advantage is that the batteries last longer and the risk of breakdowns decreases. An evaluation will determine whether more trucks with solar panels will be put on the road.
