Grolsch closes special year with grand beer tasting

Brewery organises Big Grolsch Christmas Tasting on Friday 18 December

On Friday 18 December 2020 beer brewer Grolsch organises the Great Grolsch Christmas Tasting. In an interactive tasting under the guidance of master brewer Marc Janssen, the three characteristic Grolsch special beers Classic Blond, Full Double and Spicy Triple will be tasted. In addition, participants will get an exclusive look at the brewery and singer-songwriter Rob Dekay will perform. Although the Enschede brewery has been closed to visitors since March this year, this year curious consumers and companies will still get the chance to take a look inside the brewery and taste three special beers - brewed in the 'Proefbrouwerij' and known for their iconic brown beer bottle.

Nice way to end a special year
COVID-19 has had a major impact on this year, in which the hospitality sector and many others, has been severely affected. 'Closing the year together in a pub or a company gathering is not possible this year. At Grolsch, we want to close the year with as many people as possible in a pleasant way. That's why at the end of the year we organise the Great Grolsch Christmas Tasting,' says Juan Pérez Nijhuis, Grolsch Special Beer Brandmanager. 'Nice to kwow is that everyone can join in from home and you can still have a Christmas drink with your friends, family or colleagues. It's a fun way to end the year in a positive way and to toast a better 2021', says Pérez Nijhuis.

The tasting will be supported musically by singer-songwriter Rob Dekay - known from 'Wie is de Mol? - who also performed during the #Helpdehoreca Grolsch Live sessions earlier this year. 'Another great Grolsch initiative. It's a difficult time for everyone, so we could use a little positivity. I can't wait to play music in front of an audience again, of course I hope that as many people as possible join in and we can make it a memorable evening,' says Dekay.

Biggest (online) beer tasting
During the extensive online tasting, participants learn how to taste beer and receive information about the characteristic taste of beer. 'Breaking the record is not our main goal, but it would of course be great fun if we could realise the largest (online) tasting,' says Pérez Nijhuis. 'We therefore encourage everyone to participate'. According to the Guinness Book of Records, the current beer tasting record stands at 1264 people.

How do you participate?
Gift packaging containing the three Tasting beers and a Tasting glass can be found at liquor stores and supermarkets and on grolsch.nl. Anyone 18 years of age or older can register for the Grolsch Christmas Tasting via www.grolsch.nl/kerstproeverij. Participation is free of charge, but participants must collect the three Tasting beers in advance. The tasting starts at 19:00 and will last for about an hour and a half.
